How have you been?
Here at Sprout N Wings
we have been busy
Look at how we have grown.
What I absolutely love about Nebraska
is the dew wet, humid mornings.
I can never get enough of it.
It is like a wonderland all in itself.
My commitment to scraping paint at least 1/2 hr a day
wasn't panning out. There was just too much else to do
and not enough time to do it. Yada yada - you know the story.
So I decided to rent some equipment.
There is nothing like paying by the day
to get one's butt in gear.
It was hard
and downright boring at times.
Warning - do not attempt this without a radio.
But I managed to make up for all those 1/2 hrs I missed.
Nowhere near done, but further along then before.
I still managed to make time for
spending a morning in town at the school with Rylee for pictures,
processing and freezing the corn from the cob and mowing.
When I went to load up the rented scaffolding in the truck, to
take it back Monday morning. The truck wouldn't start.
Ignition problems. Having rental equipment out that you are paying for by the day
and not being able to return it tends to strike fear in one's heart.
I ended up having to drive in town, get the girl's van, drive back to the farm
and tie what wouldn't fit in the van - onto the top of the van.
In the dark.
It's always something isn't it?
As I mentioned, I got the garden corn into the freezer
but I may have, um, neglected a few other things?
(these are cucumbers, not squash)
But, not to worry.
They were not wasted.
Yesterday I got to take a little break from working
while I waited for the tow truck to come and haul my pick up in for repair.
I should have been mowing, but didn't want to be caught sweating
and in bad shorts
when they arrived.
It gave me a chance to harvest in the garden and get a few photos.
Things like that refresh my soul.
I love this photo so much.
It just makes me happy.
Patty Pan squash anyone?
Peppermint going to seed.
Earth Tones corn.
Let's not forget our Wilson update.
It took this guy exactly 7 days to recover from
his traumatic vet visit and hoof trimming.
7 days before he would come all the way out of the barn and walk around.
But he is back to his old self again.
Or maybe not.
He did manage to drop a few pounds
while he was pouting in the barn,
but wouldn't you know it
all it did was make his skin a little baggy and saggy.
Oh dear Wilson,
you are something else.
I thought he might like to meet all his friends in blogland.
He did his best at a meet and greet.
Now if you will excuse me,
I need to go sanitize my camera.
