Chicken Treats

I made some fresh strawberry jam syrup yesterday.
I don't want to talk about it.

I thought I would help the little bantam rooster out a bit.
So I let him announce the treats.

I also let him announce the egg shell treats.
(I am freezing some - mostly whites- we will see how that goes).

"Thank ya, ma'am".

He is quite the announcer! Last photo looks like he is giving you a bow that you so richly deserve! Great pics today!

It does look like he's bowing. That's funny.

Your pics are lovely. Jam is tricky, the best way I can think to get it right is to use the cold plate trick. It's still a matter of feeling it out, though.

Strawberry syrup also rocks, by the way! That will be excellent on pancakes!

You just pour that strawberry "jam" over some ice-cream and tell people you made it like that on purpose. They will all think you are brilliant and beg for the recipe. Next year you'll be trying to figure out how to duplicate it. Go ahead, ask me how I know this:)

Great pictures!

My last blackberry jam, really syrup, is scrummy on ice=cream. I have a friend who baked the broken egg shells in the oven, crumpled them up, and then the hens ate them for grit to thicken the next egg shells they laid.Lovely boy, he looks like he can tell the world any news on the farm.Cheers, Jean

I am so surprised that chickens eat their eggs. I had no idea! That last shot is too funny!

I've made syrup before too! Also made a great Bloody Mary mix from attempted tomato sauce. Just pretend like it was the plan all along-enjoy:@)

My chickens got strawberry top treats today too! I just sliced and froze though, no jam or syrup. :)
That rooster sure is a handsome fella!

I hate when my jam doesnt set... makes me mad for a sec. but then I remember I can say I meant to do that & use it as ice cream topping or syrup ;)

Cute chickens & yummy treats for em.

I had no clue that they would eat eggs.
