I trapped the second of the chicken killers.
This one was much bigger than the first.
I am pretty sure she is a female.
Again the hair and hide worn off of the forelegs
from the night they ripped two of the bantams
right through the chicken wire.
Her feet and arms were so big that her sores
were much worse than the first one I caught.
This one scared me,
so I didn't think her very cute.
Dora, the hen,
helped me lure this killer into the trap.
Good job Dora
you get to free-roam for the day.
Here's to you
you monster of the night.
p.s. raccoon safely relocated - alive.

hooray for successful relo #2! :)
happy for you and your chicks you caught her, hope they don't have children hanging around.
Hello! This is my first visit to your blog-love your layout. The coons have been crazy in our county in Illinois this summer too. We have had two brave enough to come onto our front porch and leave nastiness. Glad you got yours taken care of! BTW-I'm following!
Caught! The little bandit will have to terrorize some other place!
Congrats on another thief caught!
I hope that was it!
glad the culprit was bagged and released....
Ugh. I don't care for raccoons AT ALL. Sure, from a distance they're cute, but up close? Nope.
I'm glad you caught it and relocated it.
So glad you caught the second one. Hope it's the last!
Oh dear. Poor little bandit was just doing what God created her to do. Not that I want your chickens to be attacked... but it's just what animals do. It would be easier if we were all herbivores. Thank you for having a kind heart and releasing her alive.
GO YOU ALRIGHT! sandie
So glad you managed to catch the other one,yes nature is survival, but your chicks are helpless, and need to be protected from predators. You are so brave to trap, and release. Cheers from Jean
Excellent!!
I'm so glad you caught her and were able to take her far, far away.
So sorry to tell you I would not be so....ummm....kind. :-)
You go you racoon wrestler, you! I hate to admit it too...but I am with Dr. Momi!
Wow, she was huge. Glad you trapped and relocated this one. Do you think there are more? I hope not.
While at the Bird Sanctuary, we once trapped a raccoon and WOW, that thing was scary. (S)he was hissing and growling and shaking the trap. I don't know how the staff person managed to relocate it without getting attacked.
We have these who climb the ladders on our feed bins, open the lids, drop inside to eat, and have no way to get out. Then they end up dying in the bin. Nasty!!
You go girl! Glad you got that critter and hopefully that will be the end of those at your farm! When we first moved to our farm there was a man down the road that I called the "Coon Man"! He was a serious coon hunter. He had their little fit nailed all over 3 sides of an outbuilding! When I first seen it it grossed me out but I got used to it over time.
Yay! I hope that is the end of this horrible ordeal!!
Glad you got her. IME they often rip their legs up when they're trapped because they try to escape. I do think they're cute but they are SUCH pests. Here's hoping that's the last one and your chickens are safe.
Yey - - Good job catching the racoons.
Bravo! Hopefully there kin won't show up to avenge them.
Hope there arent anymore.......
Oh I hear you I watched in horror one night five raccoon's capture and run off with my five pound turkeys. Scary. It gave a whole new meaning to take out turkey dinner. I am just trying to make you smile.: Hug.) but the story is true. I don't think they are that cute anymore either poor turkeys were still alive. B
You go girl!! Gotta say though, I'm with dr. momi! ;-)
You are something!
