This is Phyllis (as in Diller)
How this breed survives,
I have no idea.
It seems they have very poor eyesight.
She can't see you soon enough to run from you.
If you want chickens you can catch
raise Polish chickens.
Yesterday when we pulled into the driveway at the farm
there was a huge and beautiful hawk circling our place.
The coops are covered, so I wasn't worried,
but I pulled up next to the bantam coop and saw
that ALL the bantams were hiding and out of site
but one.
Yes, it was Phyllis.
Just looking around in confusion wondering
where everyone went.
Gotta love her.
On another note,
I have a Bucket List - a short one - but a list.
On this list I put something that I didn't really, actually want to do,
but I wanted to say I did.
Just once, I wanted to at least be able to say I did that.
No, it's not skydiving or any heroics.
It's nothing you are thinking.
In fact I wasn't going to tell you
but to save having you think "well that's no big deal"
I am going to tell you.
Because it is a big deal because it is in Omaha
and I can't for the life of me drive in Omaha
And it starts early in the morning
and I am not a morning person.
And there are a LOT of people
and I prefer no people.
But
I have been invited to be a vendor at the
Omaha Farmers Market this Saturday.
This scares me.
Have you ever done anything just to say you did?

oh, honey, you can do that! and that's exciting! i hope you have enough goods on hand to do it!
Congrats! That will be so much fun! Oh yea, enjoy every minute and scratch that baby off the list:@)
Sounds like fun! Phyllis cracks me up!
I have done many things like that and I have always been happy I've done it.
So good luck - I know you will do great!

That is so exciting!! Your going to go and even though its scarey..your going to LOVE it and you will be invited back!! I've heard amazing stories about that market and you'll come home ready to take on more!! I just know it, and I sure know what scarey firsts are like, but getting past the first time just makes you stronger and stronger!! Tell us all about it as quick as your back! I can't wait to hear, plus take gobs and I mean gobs of pictures.
Your products are the best and this is a great opportunity to show them off and get some new customers. Grit your teeth and do it. Then cross that baby off your list.
I go to networking functions for work (as rarely as possible). I HATE them, but I do them.
Sooooo love Phylis....she has such style!!!
We have ONE Polish hen, and will never have another. I feel so sorry for her all the time... but she's four years old and still gives me 3 eggs a week!
On the other hand, wipe 'em out at the Farmer's Market with your wonderful body butters!
Phyllis is too cute for words! As you said, "gotta love her!"
I'm excited for you about Saturday. I know it is scary, but I think it is something worth trying. Just like me crawling in and out of four planes to go on a trip to Florida this past March. No big deal? I'm terrified of heights and claustrophobic to boot. It was worth it, even when I thought I was going to have several panic attacks. Will I do it again to go on another trip? I don't know, but I am glad I tried it at least once in my lifetime. I think you will feel the same way about the Farmers Market. : ) Enjoy yourself!
Valerie
Oh Phyllis is a cutie. Can't wait to hear how the Farmers Market went.
So it's the driving, not the market that is scary? I'm just getting too old for scary but I know you'll do fine and I bet you come back telling us what fun you had. By the way...I had to stop in the street today to let an errant chicken literally cross the street in front of me. Phyllis?
Do it do it! I've actually been to their farmer's market before - love it :-)
I adore our polish hen. She's so sweet (and yes, easy to catch - she doesn't see you coming!)
You asked about my horses. We have 2 horses and a pony. One of them I've had since I was in college! Before I had the kids I rode several times a week, but since having them I'm lucky to ride a few times a year. I miss it, but there are other priorities right now.
I totally get what your sayin about your polish, I have a polish hen too, gotta love em! lol I almost step on her all the time, she is always under my feet, she really makes me laugh. Michele I just wanna say you got this about the Farmers Market, I've been thinkin about checkin out the Farmers Market here, but havent yet. I also wanna say I just really like you, so wish we lived by each other so we could hang out, we are a lot alike & I realize that more & more when I visit your blog :)
go for it! could be the start of something big...
Yes I have. And definitely go for it. It could be the beginning of a beautiful thing, you just never know. And if not, you can at least say you did it. And that's satisfying in itself!
Good luck!
You will do GREAT at the Farmer's Market! Your products are amazing!! Now, if only it wasn't sooo early and in such a big city!
By the way, I can't for the life of me figure out why you named that chicken Phyllis!! LOL!! ;-)
i was never a vendor, but i worked every Sat/sun for a vendor and loved it. you will to and this might just go to the top of your bucket list
forgot to say Phillis you are adorable
I do believe if they asked YOU to be a vender at the Omaha Farmers Market, they already know you have good stuff! Go for it girl!
Love Phyllis(as in Diller)
:-) ....you do know that there is probably a generation reading your blog that does not get that at all --LOL! I got to go watch Phyllis Diller live once. I have never laughed so hard in my life!!
yes and you should go do it! Brave the people and the traffic and suffer one extra early morning. Then you can say you did it and you might just find you liked it too!
She looks like she has a Las Vegas head-dress on!
Yes, definitely. My husband is usually behind me, forcing me, I mean encouraging me to do these crazy things.
:)
