changes around here.
I am replacing it's spot on the kitchen counter
with this.
Even though it is hardly a "replacement"
it is a good space holder.
The microwave hasn't gone far.
But if they want to use it,
they have to walk downstairs to do it.
and then walk back up.
Yes, I am that kind of mom.
The one that bets on our innate laziness
to get us to break a bad habit.
Next change,
homemade yogurt
made with local hormone-free skim milk.
We have never been milk drinkers
and I am hoping to up our calcium intake
by introducing more yogurt.
The girls are all for this.
Now that's a fruit and yogurt parfait.
I will let you know how we are adjusting to not
having the microwave so handy.
After I moved it, I remembered I use it to melt
the oils when I make our soaps.
I am certainly getting my exercise.

Yumm..that looks good. And good for ya!
We do not have a micro wave...but that yogurt maker looks mighty interesting.
I have always been suspicious of microwaves and our grown children share these concerns, but the research you cite strengthens my aversion to this dangerous kitchen gadget! And your attempts at eating whole foods:
GOOD FOR YOU!!!
I also need to get back into making my own yogurt! You are inspiring!
YOur yogurt looks very good! Good luck on your changes. I bet you'll all do great.
ha ha. sort of a 'sauce for the goose' story. :)
Can you make yogurt with goat milk? I love homemade granola with yogurt, a bit of honey and berries. Yum! I have a microwave but only use it for melting butter.
Wow -- we don't have a basement. Would you make me put the microwave outside in the garage? Lol.
All good changes for better health. Good for you, Mom.
The boys and I all had yogurt parfaits for breakfast this morning. We didn't make the yogurt ourselves, but they were sure yummy!
I use my microwave as a bread box. LOL. Works really good!
Love the idea of making your own yogurt! That parfait looks great, and yep, I do believe that's a Mason jar I see:@)
The yogart looks yummy. So do the two dairy containers that brought back memories of fresh dairy milk that I have not been lucky enough to taste in ages. Toaster ovens are awesome. I love mine.

Tasty looking breakfast parfait.
I have a Salton yogurt maker and I love making yogurt from my goat milk. My favorite breakfast is yogurt with blueberries and homemade granola! YUM!
I have been thinking about giving up the microwave...
How pretty and yummy looking, that yogurt in the mason jar!

My first husband bought me a microwave for a Christmas present--After that I made a rule for him to never buy me something with a plug.
The yogurt looks great.
MMMM homemade yogurt.
Stair master your legs will look great LOL. B
What a smart girl! I know we use our microwave too much but since ours is over the stove it will be a little hard to move it down the basement ;) I like the idea of making my own yogurt...I've thought about it but haven't gotten any further than that. Mmmm that granola parfait looks delicious. OH...I do make my own granola though...but that dark chocolate almond organic stuff looks and sounds REALLY good :)
