They're Gone

Goodbye's have been said.

The decorations have been taken down.
The (temporary) man-cave in the basement
has been eradicated of all empty beverage containers.
The Wii remotes have been reclaimed.
The gifts have been sorted and admired once again.
Thank you cards have been made.
Dog poo in the back yard has been removed
- with comments.
Leftovers have been picked at.
Sheets have been changed.
We are working on normalcy,
but the house is somehow bigger,
and quieter
and cleaner.

We miss them.

After all is said and done you're left with the missing... {hugs}

I feel that way too, Michaele. I wish I was better at coping with it. I don't remember my mom whining every time I left her house. I wish I were more like her (and you).

It's always too quiet when everyone leaves to go back to wherever they are currently residing. I've had 5 years of kids going off to college as soon as holidays are over... you'd think I'd get used to it...

I'm glad you're going to take the 366 challenge with me. Hmmm, purgers regret... I bet we have all had that at one time or another. I'd say if you are really on the fence about letting something go, put it in a box marked "Maybe" and store it away for 8 or 9 months. If you don't get it out of the box to use, it's probably safe to let go. I think we all know, deep down, what needs to go and what we are still attached to. You will make the right choices for you.

I've added a link to your blog on a list under my header.

I am looking forward to more room in my house by this time next year!

Ahhhhh....I just hate it when they have to leave, at least for the first couple of days.....until reality sets back in!

I understand my girls are gone and My Hero goes back to work tomorrow. I may cry I may dance a jig I just don't know how I am going to feel when it really hits. Hug B

It's always hard to say goodbye isn't it. I hope it won't be too long until you're all together again. Have a great week!

I bet you miss them.I dread the day my boy flies the coop.I mean I know that is my job as a mom,to get him ready to be on his own...but still...I sure am going to miss him.

That initial quiet after everyone's gone makes the "missing" part more noticeable.

Happy to see them come -- but good to get back a little normalcy, yes? :)
