From The Hundred Acre Wood

"Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind.

 "Pooh?" he whispered.

"Yes, Piglet?"

"Nothing," said Piglet, taking Pooh's hand.

"I just wanted to be sure of you."

— A.A. Milne (Winnie-the-Pooh)

I will leave you with this my friends, as I take a short break to
eat
pray
run

I will be checking in on you.
Just to be sure of you :  )

Everybody?

I'll have some, thanks.

Yes please.

Count me in.

Thank ya ma'am.

Thanks just the same.

Go Huskers

Tess loves corn, but got tired of waiting for a piece
and started in on the husks.

Not to worry, she got her share eventually.

Rural Mailbox Installation 101

Two years ago, when I bought the acreage,
there was a mailbox included in the deal.

Then winter happened.

To be more specific,
the blizzard of 2009 happened.

See the top of the backyard swing set?
Look hard.

We survived this,
but the mailbox did not.

Sorry to say,
no trace of it was ever seen again.

R.I.P

Two years later, I decided I'd replace it.

Hey - I've been busy - alright?

Our friendly rural post office was
very helpful and informative when it came
to this project.

Put 'er here.

Like so.

Okay, how hard can this be?

Post - check,

brackets - check,

old mailbox used 4 months in Aztec, NM - check,

hardware store out of the number zero - check,
black permanent marker - check,

and check.

Set,
(yikes!)

pour,

mix,

wa-lah.

Now all we need is mail.

Write me : )

Chinese Noodle Beans

Did you ever grow something just for fun?

You know, buy the seed, till the ground, weed, water, work, worry
just for fun?

Nah, me neither.

(maybe next year we will try cooking them)

Farm Girls

This is my girl-baby Cocoa,

who gives butterfly kisses with her little whiskers
but never actually touches my face.
I love this about her - as you can tell.

 Cocoa, meet Robbie.

(we didn't remind Cocoa that Robbie was the nurse-lady
who gave her the CDT vaccines when she last visited)

Just because it was our "girls only" weekend,
didn't mean we could neglect the chores.

Are there some good-looking chicks on this farm or what?

Linking up with Fresh From The Farm for Farm Photo Friday. Check it out!
