I am not bound for any public place, but for ground of my own where I have planted vines and orchard trees, and in the heat of the day climbed up into the healing shadow of the woods. Better than any argument is to rise at dawn and pick dew-wet red berries in a cup. ~Wendell Berry

Symbiosis?
When there is no more
room on the fence,
any bovine will do.
The bird of paradise alights only on the hand that does not grasp. - John Berry
You showed the behavior of Brown-headed Cowbirds perfectly. Those birds are mostly nomadic and followed the bison herds in the past.
And many of the Icterids, or birds in the black bird family, congregate in large numbers like that in the fall and winter for feeding. Most of those birds are male and female brown-headed cowbirds with a starling or two thrown in the group. Other birds that congregate like that in large numbers during the winter are Robins and Sparrows.
ah funny! Those are beautiful pictures. Apparently any equine will work as well. I found bird poo all over my mare's back last weekend when I was checking in with her.

Have some birds! We get crows like that. Big noisy crows. Happy cow, no ticks.

Looks like all the cowbirds have left my yard and flown your way!

:-) I've heard that they eat the ticks. I'm sure the cow is glad to see those birds!
