Have you ever thought of
dehydrating cucumbers
as a means of preserving them
and enjoying their wonderful taste
all year long?
Well, don't.
They are nasty tasting.
Stick with drying tomatoes.
Do you love having things in your kitchen
handmade by someone you know?
Who made them special order
in any color you want
just for you?
Something who's quality and workmanship
can be seen and felt and appreciated?
Then go see Jennifer and order your very own
set of potholders and dishcloth.
She is very good at what she does.
Check out everything else she makes and you can
also see her other blog here.
She is an awesome lady and friend.

Last tip for the day.
With winter coming on,
please remember to boost your immune system
with echinacea.
We take echinacea in pill form or drink hot echinecea tea,
along with Airborne and vitamin C at the first signs of a cold.
I swear by it.
The trick in our house was getting the girls
to recognize the first signs of a cold.
If you wait until you have a cold,
these things may help shorten the duration and severity.
I'd love to hear your tips for fighting colds this winter.

Lovin' your cucumber experiment! Sounds like something I would try. Glad you did before me:@)
I Love dehydrated pineapple, banana and mangos..yum...But I believe you that cucumbers wouldn't be very nice. My mother brought up five of us alone, so I know you don't have it easy. She once tried to preserve eggs.. Poor thing. She worked so hard and they all went bad.
Have a great day and blessings from the Land of Oz.
Good for you for trying the cukes. One never knows until they try!
Your friend does lovely work.
We use Zycam at the first sign of a cold. Works like a charm!
To avoid getting colds I keep my ears and neck covered when outdoors as soon as the weather turns coolish. I used to try and be tough and go bare-headed in the fall, but I learned my lesson.
You have a very nice blog!
I actually follow your advice for fighting colds. I also take Zinc. I don't mind colds but I hate sore throats and the zinc helps to make them less severe. Thanks for the cucumber tip.
Michaela, I always learn something from your blog. We have yet to start dehydrating, I thought this year was the year. I know not to try cukes!
I always find interesting blogs on your sidebar, too!
I've never dehydrated anything so I don't know if I would like anything dehydrated at all. At least you gave it a try!
I have taken Echinecea with Goldenseal and it works wonders. I do still get sick at times but if I take that soon enough it kicks it in the rear within 2 hours of feeling like I had the flu. I do suffer from some pretty bad allergies right now. Wish I could find something natural that I could take for that!
Traditional Medicinal Echinacea Tea .... my absolute favorite.
LOL! I love cucumbers, but dehydrated ones don't sound good at all. I have some sliced in the fridge and have been munching on them all day long.
I have no really tips for a cold I think I am too fast for one to catch me. Just kidding I am lucky though I rarely get them. B
my work, how long did it take to get the cucumbers to dry out? There is so much water in them! Thanks for the tip. I'll not try it!
Marcy dried cantelope this year with a little sugar and cinnamon...wonderful candy and a good way to keep all those cantelopes.
Mmm I love cucumbers...fresh cucumbers. ;)
I get a flu shot and wash my hands...a lot. I'm also conscientious about where my hand is around my face and try not to touch my nose or my eyes in public or after being in public until I wash my hands.
I am a complete germaphobe this time of the year.
LOL ... dried cucumbers???
And thanks for the health tips! I'll try it!
Ok... you almost had me for a sec about the dried cucumbers, I was thinkin "hummm I wonder if they would be good". Then I read under the pic. about dont, LOL!!!
So glad you really like your potholders & dishrag, thanks for linkin to my blogs too :)
I had to laugh about the cucumbers...I was lamenting not trying them when you posted the pictures. :) Good to know. I do elderberry extract. Make it with raw honey and it's fantastic. My mother in law used to make elderberry wine when she had a neighbor that had the equipment. I miss that. That seemed to heat up the throat as you swallowed it...some kind of toxic stuff!!!
