Please Read

I am heavy hearted as I read through your wonderful blogs
and try to comment on them.
I feel the need to speak out, so that none of you make the same mistake I did.
I may not be able to talk about it later.

I am angry with myself for my  flippant disregard for pesticides and warning labels.
We have been fighting ticks for months and now come the fleas.

We should have known enough to listen to our dog, who absolutely hates,
more than anything in the world, flea and tick drops.  Many times, I thought
to ask you fellow dog owners if you had the same problem with applying it
to your dogs.

But I had to take my stupidity and blindness one step farther and apply
a portion of the dog's flea drops on one of our cats.

DON'T EVER DO THIS!

Nyla is currently at the vet and in very serious condition.
Tremors and muscle twitching.  The next 48 hours are critical.
Please pray for him (yes Nyla is a boy).

He is so special and so loved and I am so STUPID.
We have learned our lesson and NO animal here will ever have
permethrin applied to any part of them again.

Flea combs, soapy baths, and diatomaceous earth.
I will take the time and the responsibility with our pets.
Not carelessly apply chemicals and walk away.

Nyla just HAS to pull through.

Will pray for Nyla! We're human - we all make mistakes so don't beat yourself too much. If anything, be thankful you were able to seek help :) I'm sure things will work out!

Dear Michaele:
First of all, I am praying for Nyla, you and the girls. I am also praying for you to stop blaming yourself. You are human as we all are. We each do the best we can with the tools we have at the moment. Anything you do for your pets is out of love and nothing more. Please keep us posted. Hugs to Nyla and a super big one to YOU!

I am so, so, very sorry.....I hope and pray that your Nyla pulls through......yes, I have 2 cats and knew this to....but you are only human and as humans we make mistakes at times. I also learned the hard way that permectin can also burn goats skin if not diluted.
Please keep us posted....(((((((HUGS))))))

Please keep us posted on how he is doing. And don't beat yourself up so much. It was an honest mistake, made in an attempt to help him. I've got chills from reading the post because it is something I could so easily do myself. Thank you for sharing and warning us and I'm praying for Nyla (and you).

Oh i am so sorry to hear that, but i didn't quite understood if it was from the fleas/ticks or from the stuff you put on them to keep the fleas/ticks away???

I hope he will get better soon!
Hugs

I'm praying for you and your kitty too! I'm so sorry that you are going through this. Don't blame yourself. That is truly a mistake that anyone would easily make. You were just trying to help your kitty. We have used Frontline on our dogs for years. I try to use it just once a year when the ticks first come out in the Spring.

((((Hugs))))

I hope Nyla pulls through and I will pray for him and you. We make mistakes and I know you didn't mean to do anything that would hurt him.

Let us know.

As hard as it may have been, I think it is wonderful that you shared this information with us. I have been tempted to do this very same thing. I so hope your beautiful kitty is going to be okay. I'll be anxious to see your next post.

Hugs from me and all my fur children.

OH, so sorry, Michaele. Said a prayer for your sweet boy. I hate seeing my animals go through stuff, but don't beat yourself up about it. I have to admit that I've thought of doing the same thing. I so appreciate your warning us about it, and I hope you'll have good news in the morning!!!

What a shame! I've never had trouble with the stuff we get at the vet, but one time some over-the-counter flea stuff practically killed my dog. I've never used anything like that on cats, but I'm sure they are much more sensitive because they lick themselves so much. I'm saying a prayer for Nyla and for you.

I'm so glad your cat pulled through, but don't beat yourself up too much, we all make some pretty doozy mistakes we'd rather not admit to. Bravo for you for sharing and wanting to educate.
