The wild flowers in our backyard woods.
Garlic and onions thriving in the garden.
The lilac seedlings we planted last year.
The elderberry seedling we planted this year.
Fresh mowed grass.
(you have no idea how much I love fresh mowed grass)
(or do you?)
Farmers fields surrounding our acreage
that remind me of fresh mowed grass.
Little red hens.
Flowers from our backyard in town.
Here is one for you my friend.
What feeds your soul?

happy sighs from my dogs, birds busy chattering all around, squirrels scampering around my feeders in between dog stake-outs, a glimpse of my happy horses in the pasture, being able to stay home and have no plans to go anywhere... :)
For me it is the wee early morning sounds..birds rustling and chirping..my new roosters attempting to crow..lol...deer moving through the field...the sun creeping up in the Eastern sky..looking for the different colors it brings..to know how the weather might be that day..use to be the sleepy little faces of my 5 children...and now it is the little images of my children in their children..saying monin nana...love the mornings!!
How do you transplant lilac and when...and what is that gorgeous
flower in the last pictures..I bet we can't grow that here..lol

Great pictures! Love the flowers. :)
Those are all wonderful things! I think I do understand about the grass! I also LOVE the smell of fresh cut grass and believe it or not, I love the smell of freshly turned (dug up) earth.
I have four old fashioned lilacs that I started last year from my mom's and have transplanted to my yard this year...so far, so good!
I think this was a great year for transplants. Ours are doing wonderfully.
As for me, my puppies, my husband, flowers, birds at the feeder, a big piece of lemon cake. :)
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.
What a wonderful post! "What feeds your soul?"... I will have to think about that tomorrow, and try to do this same thing. We are expecting rain, but I bet I have enough pictures of the things that feed mine. Thanks for the great idea!
Beautiful photographs, Michaele! I too, love the smell of freshly mown grass--mmmmm. What kind of chickens? They look a lot like our sweet buckeyes.
And I love, love, love your peonies! I so want some in my yard, but we have to keep plugging away slowly. Someday.
Thanks for the pix!
Well your photos certainly fed my soul and I think you are right on with the nature thing. That is what feeds my soul and my family of course. B

I so enjoyed your soul stirrers as I am having my cup of coffee!
These photos are fantastic-and say it all.......................~~Rain!
Great things to feed your soul...
Everything about Country Livin feeds my soul. Gettin up early to sit outside before it gets too hot, with a cup of coffee just enjoyin nature, I love it. Sittin outside in the late evening enjoyin nature, watchin my animals, pretty flowers, the wild birds that visit my yard. Watchin the garden grow. Spendin time with the family.
I love the smell of fresh mowed grass and I love the farmers fields that surround us too. I wish they'd plant corn all the time but most especially...I'd love them to plant SUNFLOWERS!!! Oh well ...crop rotation has to happen so it's always a surprise to see what comes up with each planting. Love your peonies...wish we had your beautiful grass. Years of neglect have rendered this little farm to more weeds than grass growing in the lawn and this year even that is sparse because of the drought we had since late winter. At least we have our little green patch of real grass inside the picket fence out back...it's always nice to walk out there and wiggle your toes in the lush greeness. I hope your day is a good one.
Maura :)
An evening with my aunt and sister, who all live too far away now, and mom spent laughing until our sides hurt; watching all three of the kids riding in the back of the pick-up while their dad is driving them to go pick wild black raspberries in the back field, a gentle breeze while hanging laundry on a hot evening; your fun posts that make me smile. :)
