On Spring and Love

On Saturday, three people, two dogs, four goats and 12 chickens
all piled into a 2005 Ford Focus and traveled 35 miles to the farm.

If you think that was an accomplishment,
let me add that no one complained.
Not once.

The chicks were introduced to their new, and again temporary,
home in the barn.  They were delighted.

The chickens got out of their pen to do some free-roaming.
They think they are hidden.  Pretend you don't see them.

The girls fired up their dirt bikes for the first time since last fall
and took off for a ride through the empty fields.
Soon they won't be able to do that.

We got busy with the shovels.

Rylee worked  in the garden.

Rikki and I dug the holes for the 50 seedlings we
have coming at the end of April.
Northern Catalpa trees and Elderberry shrubs.
(I see wine making in my future.)

I put up a temporary pen for the baby goats.
So we could actually get something done.

But we took time out from our work,
and the goats from their romping,
so they could remind us how much
they loved us.

They also informed us how much they loved each other.
I am not happy about this new information however.

Rodeo thinks Coco smells wonderful.
So wonderful that he is inclined to
stick out his tongue, stamp his hooves,
rub up against her and make noises
you would not believe would come from a (baby) goat.

Okay, so there is no stopping nature,
but come ON.
These two still have umbilical cords
and can't eat solid foods.

Four weeks old and I have to separate them?

Whether these antics will result in anything is not
the problem as much as how he will not leave her alone
and has begun serious head butting with Ringo.
(sigh)

Here is Ringo looking all grown up.
He also likes how Coco smells.
He is not scheduled to become
a wether for a couple of months.
(sigh again.)

Spring is in the air and EVERYWHERE.
Get out there and get you some   :  )
