A Cat's Christmas

Nyla got catnip for Christmas.
After he was finished with it - no one wanted to 'touch this'.
It was a slobbery mess.
Then, of course, one of my daughters put it into a purse of one of her sisters,
where it wasn't discovered until the next morning.
Ewwwwwww.

This is from my own list:

What are you doing this winter?

Things To Do In The Winter (continued):

Put chains on your bicycle tires and go for a ride.

Or do what Tess does and enjoy a good old fashioned brain freeze.

Things To Do In The Winter

I recently ran across a list of
Things To Do During The Winter.
It was an amusing list and I thought I would
share one thing to do each day on my blog.
Maybe it will hold out until March.
That is when I consider winter to be over.
It is the month to order chicks and start seedlings indoors.
(can't wait!)

So here we go -
Things to do during the winter:
Visit Sams Club on a Sunday and make a meal out of all the food demos.

And - here is something for your cats to do during the winter.
Watch a fake butterfly in a jar.
How cool is that?

Christmas Dinner

Once again, we found ourselves in the kitchen
chopping,

seasoning,

basting,

and baking,

The men stayed out of our way
and enjoyed a new Christmas
present.

But they quickly came to our aid when it was time to
carve the pork crown roast.

and load the plates.

Everything was seasoned just right.

We gave thanks for each other, the wonderful food before us,
and  the blessings this season brings.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
love, michaele

I don't have an Uncle Jim.
But I do have a daughter and son-in-law

They say the secret is in the seasoning.
I say YUM!!

Revolutionary War History Project

This is not the video that made it to the class presentation - but it is my favorite version.
Kinda cool that the crew and cast included two sets of twins.
(This is the video I promised you -  Grandma)

Ice

I rushed out the back door today.
The girls were already in the car and the dogs in the shed.
All I had in my hand was an extensive grocery list from Sasha.
I don't know, maybe the grocery list threw me off balance,
but I slipped on the ice and fell flat!
Not even flat.
Not on my tailbone or my elbows or my knees either.
More like on my extreme lower back and then of course my head followed suit.

I wanted to just lay there until someone came looking for me,
but it was cold
and hard.
And the girls are used to waiting 40 minutes or more for me.
So I didn't hold out hope there.

I managed to get up and limp/walk to the car.
The car was behind the garage so the girls didn't see anything.
By the time I made it to the car I was feeling very sick to my stomach.
I sat there awhile, got in and out of the car a few times to see if I could walk,
and how fast.
Then I got shaky and just wanted to cry a bit.
So we went back in the house.

I tried sitting,
then laying flat,
then laying on my side,
then laying on my back.

It all hurt.
Thank God it wasn't my back
or any bones.
It was just deep muscle pain shooting down the backs of my legs.

I took two ibuprofen
waited 30 minutes and
decided to give it another go.

30 minutes after that
making it a total of 60 minutes
I was darn near back to normal.

We braved a busy Walmart and an
even busier Mall and I did fine.

I am ever so thankful to have recovered!
Last year a woman from Nebraska fell on the ice,
hit her head and died.  She left three little kids without a mom.
It was the very first thing that entered my mind as my head
hit the concrete.

I am very lucky and I am over it!

Oh and if you are headed this way for Christmas -
we have put out the ice melt - so come on in!

The Mark Of A Good Neighbor

A good neighbor

has been here

so that I could be here.

And for that I am very thankful!
